There Is Room for You Here: Meet Jill & Jordan

Some people make a place feel more like home simply by being themselves.

Jill Moor and Jordan Huffman are two of those people. Sisters whose lives took them away and brought them back to Noblesville, they bring warmth, humor, and a generous welcome to the community they love.

I’m delighted to share their conversation as the first episode of Meet Your Neighbor, a People of Noblesville series about the stories behind the familiar faces around us.

We talked about sisterhood, friendship, raising families, growing older, and the everyday connections that help us feel we belong. There were plenty of laughs and some lovely reminders that you don’t have to grow up here to find your people here.

That’s the heart of this series: getting to know one another a little better, and making room for each other along the way.

I met Jordan in line for coffee at our very first Miller Ambassadors meeting (shout-out to Marnie Cooke!). We clicked right away and proceeded to yap our way through pretty much every meeting after that. What I didn’t know was that Jordan had gone home and told her sister about me.

Fast-forward to the day I met this lovely woman named Jill in the Aldi parking lot, who happened to be wearing a Noblesville beanie like mine (shout-out to T and T Promotions!). Somewhere in the conversation, we put it together. I was the woman Jordan had told her about! And Jill had been in the same Miller Ambassadors class as my husband, Willie. Of course she had.

That same coffee line is also where Jordan and I met our now dear friend Jana Hile. She’d only been in town a few weeks, and neither of us had any idea her husband was our new superintendent. We just knew she was awesome. Before long, we were getting together for coffee whenever we could and calling ourselves the GirlTribe. And if you’ve seen how much heart Dan and Jana poured into our school referendum these past few months, you’ve seen a little of what we love about her, too.

I think that’s some of the magic of Noblesville. You get in line for coffee, you notice somebody’s beanie, and somewhere in all those little moments, you go from recognizing faces around town to looking for them when you walk into a room.

Pull up a chair. There is room for you here, too. ❤️

A little behind the scenes

A big thank-you to Hamilton East Public Library’s Crossroads Discovery Center for letting us record in their Audio Recording Lab free of charge! If you’ve ever wanted to record a conversation with someone you love, this is such a cool place to do it. Next time you’re at the Noblesville Library, head upstairs and check it out.
